Mahindra XEV 9S Launched: India’s First Three-Row Electric SUV

Mahindra has introduced its largest electric SUV to date, the XEV 9S, marking the company’s first true three-row electric model, in India. Joining the XEV 9e, BE6, and XUV400, the XEV 9S expands Mahindra’s lineup of electric SUVs.

The XEV 9S shares a similar silhouette with the XUV700 but brings its own distinctive electric vehicle identity. The front features a closed-off grille with a connecting LED light bar and vertically stacked LED headlamps, while the sides showcase flush-fitting door handles and aerodynamic alloy wheels.

At the rear, L-shaped LED tail lamps complete the modern EV look. With a wheelbase of 2,762 mm and ground clearance of 205 mm, the SUV comfortably seats seven passengers. Boot capacity reaches 527 litres, and a 150-litre front trunk adds additional storage space.

The XEV 9S is available with three battery options: 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. Power outputs range from 228 bhp to 282 bhp, with all variants producing 380 Nm of torque.

Performance is strong, with 0–100 km/h acceleration achieved in 7–7.9 seconds and a top speed of 202 km/h. The SUV also supports fast charging of up to 175 kW, making it one of the quickest seven-seat electric SUVs in India.

Inside, the XEV 9S offers a premium and technology-rich cabin. It features a triple-screen layout for the driver, front passenger, and infotainment, while second-row passengers have their own screens.

A panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon 16-speaker sound system, ventilated seats with Boss mode, ambient lighting, and a powered tailgate enhance comfort and convenience. The SUV also provides four driving modes—Everyday, Race, Range, and Snow—and five levels of regenerative braking.

Safety duties are handled by seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS assisted by radars and cameras, AutoPark assist, and the Eyedentity driver monitoring system with drowsiness alerts. The Secure360 Pro system provides live camera feeds along with two-way communication to ensure passenger safety.

The entry-level Pack One Above variant is priced at INR 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom), while higher trims offer larger battery packs and additional features, with the top Pack Three Above costing INR 29.45 lakh.
